How to Find University Grants

If you are employed by a post-secondary institution, you are likely interested in searching for grants. At PKS Grant Management and Accounting Solutions, LLC we can help locate funding agencies and specific grant opportunities for your university-related project. Below are a few places to start your search:

  • Grants.gov: On this site, search federal grants. You will want to refine your search by selecting the category: Education. Then, under the limiter of Eligibility select the appropriate category: Private institutions of higher education; Public and state-controlled institutions of higher education.

  • U.S. Department of Education: Grants administered by the U.S. Department of Education will be indexed in Grants.gov; however, it can be easier to search for post-secondary grants by going directly to the U.S. Department of Education.

  • State Department of Education websites: Visit the Department of Education for your state for possible grants.

  • Private foundations: Private foundations can be located on the open web or using a database such as Foundation Directory Online.

While there are many private foundations, specific ones to include in your search include:

There are many discipline-specific organizations that fund work conducted by higher education faculty. Examples include the National Science Foundation, the Spencer Foundation, and NASA.
