Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds

President Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 was signed into law on March 11, 2021, which provides $1.9 trillion funding state and local governments to respond to the public health and economic crisis. The authorized uses under the ARPA are as follows:

  1. Response to the public health emergency and its negative economic impacts, including assistance to households, small businesses, and nonprofits, or aid to industries such as tourism, travel, and hospitality.

  2. Response to workers performing essential work by providing premium pay to eligible workers of the State, territory, or Tribal government.

  3. Provision of government services to the extent of the reduction in revenue.

  4. Make necessary investments in water, sewer, or broadband infrastructure.

The funds may not be used to offset a reduction in the net tax revenue and pension funds. If an organization fails to comply with requirements will face recoupment.
